TTMMFA: Reading
CHAPTER 1
THINGS THAT MAKE ME FEEL ALIVE:
Reading. It is one of my personal interests. I started reading during the early years of Wattpad. Wattpad is an app where you can find or create stories, poems, and novels. My favorite story was "I love Since 1892," a historical fiction novel by Binibining Mia (@UndeniablyGorgeous). It was published by ABS-CBN Books. I've always loved romance, probably that's why it wasn't hard for me to like the book. Additionally, I think the time-traveling added the spice — that's what got me hooked. Of course, I, too, tried to create my story — unfortunately, it wasn't for me. I stopped reading in the app when they limit the stories I can read by making me pay for them.

| My Wattpad welcomed me home. I'm lowkey tempted to read again. |
After Wattpad, I stopped reading and focused on my other personal interests — which I will tell you about in the next pages. But then, I guess you can never leave "home" for too long. I started reading again — this time, I read international books. I still read novels — romance, specifically. The recent novel I've finished was "The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo" by Taylor Jenkins Reid — it was so good. What's new in my reading "journey" is I started reading self-help books. As of now, my current reads are both self-help books. I became fond of self-help books as they are helping me and giving me a new perspective in life. I liked how it confronted the things I was denying for a long time. And importantly, it comforted me the time I needed it the most. I still have a bunch of books on my Reading List, and I hope I can find the time to finish them — soon.

As stated in the blog "How does Reading Help You?" "Books can be a magical passport to anywhere in the world," through a book, you can be where you want to be. In the same blog, the reason why I loved reading too was mentioned, "Books can help us escape." Books became my break from the stressful world. When everything becomes overwhelming, I open the book I'm reading, and after that, I'm okay. A 2009 Study by the University of Sussex (as cited in Reading for Stress Relief, n.d.-b) proves that reading can reduce stress by 68%. Moreover, it can expand my vocabulary, which will be essential for my writing and speaking skills. It was stated in the blog "How Does Reading Improve Your Vocabulary?" that daily reading will make you exposed to new words, concepts, and ideas — thus, it will make your vocabulary broader.
Reading is not complete without music. Check out the next page to know more about my other interest. Music.

I really love reading Wattpad story!!! Maxinejiji is my favorite author.
ReplyDeleteI love Maxinejiji, too. Her story "He's into Her" was so good. It was a combination of high school romance, enemies to lovers trope, and action in the later part of the story. I think the action made the story a good story, as you wouldn't expect that given that book 1 was more on "typical kilig school romance."
DeleteI've always thought that reading is boring but when I started reading I swallowed that thought because I started to fall inlove in reading !! Reading books such as novels enables me to feel different emotions, brought me to places I've never been before and introduced me to people who later on I will look up to. Books are great escape to the chaotic world.
ReplyDeleteIndeed, I once thought that reading is boring and I shouldn't read in my free time as I believed before that reading = studying. But, when I started reading, it changed my whole perspective on reading. It was indeed a great escape, a portal to places we've never been, and we're able to know people without actually meeting them. It's so cool!
DeleteThis blog post encourages me to buy more and useful books. Based on your expression of words, you really enjoy it. Thank you so much for this information!
ReplyDeleteThe pleasure is mine. I really enjoy reading, and I know you will once you read too! If you don't mind, I recommend you buy "The Mountain is You" by Brianna Wiest. Though I still haven't finished the book, I can make sure that the book is worth buying. It helped me recognize the self-sabotaging habits that I thought were normal but will eventually lead to my destruction. Enjoy reading!
DeleteI am also into books! One time I even bought the whole series of the book but I never felt guilty about buying it because it's one of my temporary escape from the world.
ReplyDeleteI feel you! We can never feel guilty about the things that bring us so much joy, no matter how much it costs us, no? Even if it's a temporary escape, it's worth it. We all need a break, and this is ours.
DeleteReading is not my cup of tea. But in your post, I think you inspire me to start reading books.
ReplyDeleteThat's good to hear! I'm delighted to know I inspire you to read. You won't regret it once you do! Start by reading books you're interested in, and the rest will follow. Happy Reading!
DeleteBecause of this, I reminisce about the days when I loved to read Wattpad stories. I would probably go back to my reading routine next time!
ReplyDeleteWattpad was indeed THE era of teenagers! I hope you find the time very soon to go back to your reading routine. I'll be looking forward to that!
DeleteWow! I'm so impressed! I love the way you express yourself through this blog - I feel like you are talking to me. And to tell you honestly, I am fond of books too! I think we are the same in some ways. Over all, i love this blog, especially the content and layout. It gives me the idea of wanting to read again and be lost with beautiful books like i used to.
ReplyDelete"Books can be a magical passport to anywhere in the world." You are right! I love this quote. Nice blog, keep it up!
I am beyond grateful that you liked the blog I poured my efforts into. I hope you will soon find your way again to being lost in the world of books. Go get your passport again!
DeleteIn all honesty, I'm not fond of reading booka that much. But I so love the quote you linked to this blog, "Books can be a magical passport anywhere in the world". This made me think twice and consider buying at least a self-help book to read. What an impressive blog.
ReplyDeleteOnce you entered the world of literature, you just cannot stop. The feeling of looking something new to read is really enjoyable. And after you finished a book, different emotions just flow into your body. It's nice to see a fellow reader.
ReplyDeleteIndeed! Reading makes me feel things. I usually need 3-5 business days to recover from the emotions a book gave me. Your statement made me remember the quote from Hell University by KnightinBlack, "Once you enter, there's no turning back." There is indeed no turning back in the world of literature.
DeleteI agree that reading is one form of escape. It allows us to discover the world of possibilities and think outside of the box. Also, it's good that you read to expand your vocabulary, which you can use in your studies! I hope that you will keep on reading for you to discover hidden gems in the world of literature, and hidden gems in yourself, too 😉.
ReplyDeleteI know that reading will help my vocabulary get wider. It also makes me enjoy it at the same time I am learning, so it's a win-win situation! I hope too — I hope that I can discover hidden gems in the world of literature and myself too. Thank you for this!
